Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita, Elisabeth Shue | Daniel and his mother are moving from New Jersey to California. He has a wonderful new job, but Daniel quickly discovers that an Italian boy with a dark hair shirt accent is not a yellow surfer. Daniel manages to get rid of some of the fights, but many of them end up in the same karate school. As Daniel passes by beating Miyagi, the elderly gardener jumps in and rescues him, fighting a half-dozen teenagers. Miyagi and Daniel soon discover in the form of a karate teacher the true motivator behind the boys’ violent attitude. Miyagi allows Daniel to learn karate and organizes a few months away at the All-Valley tournament. When his training begins, Daniel does not understand what is being shown to him. Miyagi seems to be more interested in Daniel painting the railings and waxing the cars than teaching him karate.
